Short Sale Marketing Tips

I just read a great bulletin from the California Department of Real Estate geared toward consumers and it is probably the kind of information you should be providing to your prospective clients no matter what state you sell real estate or do short sales in.

Click here to read the The Consumer Alert regarding short sales. It is a PDF that can be downloaded and shared with your clients.

My thinking is that when you are totally upfront with what consumers should be aware of, you are educating them, helping to knock other agents out of the race (who may be less qualified to help out) and you are building towards a very consultative relationship with the client.

One of our clients who is a mortgage broker, gets many loans she wouldn't otherwise get by offering clients her expertise in reading their Good Faith Estimates even if they don't do a loan with her. Once she goes over the GFE with the client, she not only has insight to the competition, but she also saves people from making mistakes where they wouldn't otherwise be aware of. After all, some of those real estate disclosures are like reading Greek when you don't really know what you are looking at or looking for.

To help drive traffic to your website, when you send out your next Short Sale Marketing Campaign, offer clients the opportunity to download the Consumer Alert right off your website. They will appreciate the opportunity to go to your website and download the alert, they will appreciate your educating them, and you have already begun relationship with them.
