Why Door Hangers Work

Using Door Hangers for your next marketing campaign is not only effective, but cost effective. With the cost of postage constantly climbing, door hangers are a great option because there is NO POSTAGE. In these tough economic times, marketing budgets are tight and must be stretched to get the best bang for your buck!  The biggest advantage to door hanger marketing is that your prospects MUST give it a look because it is hanging on their front door.  They have to remove it!

Some "door hanger printing" tips to remember:

1.  Keep It Simple - As with any marketing message less is more, more effective.  The marketing message should be brief and clear enough to "get" in the amount of time it takes to get it off the door.  You have about 2-3 seconds to grab your prospects attention. Use your time wisely.

2.  Consider having your door hanger professionally designed - If you are going to INVEST in having door hangers printed, why would you skimp on the design of it?  Once the initial design is complete and ready for print, making future changes is fast, easy and economical…more importantly professional.

3.  Make sure your door hanger matches the neighborhood - I recently received a beautifully designed door hanger on my front door for fireplaces.  I happen to live in a home that is almost nine years old, has a nice fireplace as does every other home in this neighborhood.  It made no sense to me why this company would invest in door hangers and then pass them out in a neighborhood with relatively new fireplaces, that definitely don't need upgrading at this point.   If this person did their homework, they would also know that pretty much every home in this neighborhood is "upside down" in value.  Not a good demographic for selling fireplaces????

4.  Consider the weather - It is a good idea to have door hangers printed on a card stock which has a glossy UV coating on it and will withstand any weather challenges at the time they are distributed.If it happens to rain, you won't want your prospects receiving a "soggy" door hanger.

5.  Include an offer - When it comes to door hangers, people are accustomed to receiving some sort of coupon or offer.    Make sure your door hanger has some sort of "call to action" or something that brings value to the prospect when they choose to keep it around.  In my neighborhood, pizza places are very consistent with door hangers that have coupons on them.  Want to know their secret????  IT WORKS!!!!  If it didn't work, they wouldn't keep doing it.

6.   Think about what you would keep - When you come home and find a door hanger on your front door, which ones do you keep?  Why do you keep them?  Give this serious consideration when deciding what to include on your door hanger.
