I had the pleasure of meeting a new client today with a story and a vision that moved me.  I went from being "moved" to being overwhelmed and heartbroken by what I discovered in the moments that followed.  As my client and I started to discuss his website and his investment in his website, it became very clear that this man and his dream had been scammed, which happens all too often.  I sobbed many times that day after my new client and friend left because I was just heartbroken that one human being would do such a thing to another human being.  People are hurting and everyone needs income, but come on!  There are honest ways to earn income.  I wanted to stand on the rooftops and scream to everyone to beware of the wild, wild west of SEO as my business coach calls it.

The purpose of this post goes way above and beyond business cards, postcards, websites or graphics design.  These types of marketing products, you can touch, feel and look at.  You know right away what the quality of the finished product is when you look at it.  You can see the quality of a person/company's work within moments.  How exactly can you tell if someone is giving you that same quality when it comes to hiring someone to do your SEO work, which is a crucial part of any marketing plan in this day and age.  We all know we need SEO to help our sites be found on the "Super Information Highway", but is there a way to know for sure that you are getting what you have paid for?

Yes, you can and it is easier that you think to "spy" on your SEO provider to make sure they are doing what you have paid them to do.  First of all, you can simply email us your website URL and we will tell you if your website has any SEO done on it, we know what we are looking for and can give you the "scoop" very quickly.  You can also download a program called SEO quake (www.seoquake.com) that evaluates your website, tells you if you have "robot.txt" files, incoming links, what your "key words" are and so much more.  I will follow this blog with another blog post on how to use SEO quake in more detail and what you should be looking for when you use SEO quake.
