Don't Carry Business Cards "on you"

I went through a class a few years back called the "Power of Commitment", I found much of it very interesting. The overall concept of the class was how to decide how much time and energy you should invest in a prospect client by watching their behaviors. One of the most profound statements that came from the class is…. "You can tell what someone is committed to by their results". When you are trying to determine if you should invest your time, energy and resources in to turning a prospect in to a client, this saying can be very helpful. By paying attention to the actions of the prospect, you really can get see how invested your client is in working with you.

Now this next tangent may not seem relevant, but stick with me… I was having the thought late this evening that one of my clients was without their business cards because they weren't delivered today. My understanding was that she REALLY needed them. I feel bad about it, but there really isn't anything I can do about it.

Then I thought to myself that if when you wanted to give someone a card, but didn't have one on you, you would HAVE to collect their information in order to mail one off to them. A handwritten note with the business card showing your commitment will stand out much more to them than if you handed it to them in passing.

I say DON'T carry your cards on you, get an excuse to stand out in the crowd by collecting their information and popping it in the mail to them..with a handwritten note, you know they will actually remember you and most likely keep your business card around if you get it to them that way.
